After searching for a while using 'Nikor tank' as the saved search phrase, I found a 3x 120 tank in the US. It was a bit scruffy and was advertised as a repurposed cocktail shaker?! Whatever! So, at the cost of around £28, it finally arrived and was treated to a wire wool polishing. It's now...
Woah there... You do what?! You do realise that this is an analogue only thread, no Food-ital hybrid funny business here! :D
I don't eat meat, but my wife does. (Totally unintended 'Fnar fnar!' right there)
According to her, I cook fillet steaks better than she does, I'll have to give my...
Big thumbs up type +1 from me! It makes temperature control so much easier!
Like others have already said, get a decent thermometer or two, so you can check the bath and chems temperatures. Also, I use mine in a big stainless steel cooking pot which I like to think helps it keep a more...
If you have a stainless tank with a lid that doesn't leak everywhere, you don't need none of that plastic rubbish! If it does leak and you can't find a replacement, get a Nikor tank and use electrical tape around the seal.
Oh, and as far as agitation goes, I've always used something like the...
^^^This too! Understanding how everything slots together is very important and can make reassembling things so much easier.
The slightly odd looking cog just visible in these two pictures for instance:
It has a funny cut-out type shape to it, like a chunk is missing. Weird... Why is it...
I'm not sure yet! I replaced the foam under the clamp with a bit of the soft half of some Velcro as it was what I had lying around. For the gaps around the prism, I used electrical tape as a temporary fix, but I've just bought some of this stuff, so I'll see how it fits and works!
Thanks! Hopefully if I'm successful in repairing it and documenting it properly, the techniques might be valid for faults and repairs on other cameras.
I've decided that I'm going to do a full strip down and rebuild of this camera, and if it all goes well, I'll post it up! There is quite a...
Anyone after a Helios 44M-5 lens?
Er, whut?
Some damage? That's SOME damage?! Wow!
Thank goodness for that! At least when someone tears a chunk out of one of their fingers, at least they can take some comfort in the fact that they can still use a filter. Anything else?
So it's not in...
Приветствую товарищи!
Warning! If you don't like long posts or Russian cameras, this is probably not the thread for you!
After (hopefully and successfully) repairing my Zenit EM and then starting on a faulty 12XP, I thought I'd share a few pics of the repairs and findings.
Back before the...
You probably have a broken clock spring!
As others have already said, there is a round (usually silver IIRC) machined and domed sprung button under the take up spool. As you remove the back, it should drop down, move a couple of levers and release the ratchet so the frame counter returns to...
^^^Completely this. Very, very much this!
Although TBH, I think JIS crossheads are only used on newer electronic cameras, which I try to avoid as much as possible, so I've never seen any! But I do have a set for repairing Japanese audio equipment, which I used to do a few years ago. And I...

Bit horrible. Also, would finding the camera help at all?
I'll snip jim10219s post there, although the rest of it gives some great advice. Mine is as follows:
Beware of cheap tools! Cheap screwdrivers can easily break and damage tiny screw heads. For instance, look for good quality screwdrivers such as Bergeon, although my set of 9 student quality...
