I was wondering about that. I was thinking that it'd be difficult to fill and drain in close timeframes to balance out the amount of dwell time at two given, distant, points on the film.
I guess the other thing is for me to really decide if I even want to chase 70mm, or if 65mm could be my jam. š
This is where I think the problem is, and it may even be on just one cassette, I'm not sure yet.
Yes... this was the big headache when I first started to try to do all this. Figuring out the spacial orientation was a puzzle for about 15 minutes, but now I think it's pretty straightforward...
Well, I finally tried my Pentax 645 with the 70mm back modified for 65mm according to the instructions on @rhizomeblur Zach's excellent site. I did something wrong a number of times, and decided to cut my losses on the 50-ish inches of 65mm 250D. I think the cartridges I'm using may be a bit...
For what it's worth, I understand the need for forums like this one to ask for sellers to pay for advertising, but I have purchased a different of thinbegin's products, and corresponded with them about the possibility of a 65mm reel. No complaints from me. For 70mm (or 65mm, even) it would be...
Ilford has started their ULF for 2025, and I noticed they have 50-foot rolls of 70mm in either no-perf or double perf emulsion-in. Have to be manufactured in multiples of 15. I'm going to be looking for a place to buy a roll or two. @rhizomeblur Zach - any plans for Mercury to participate? I...
This is excellent news! Thanks so much for your answer. I'm glad I won't be forced to buy lots of film before I'm quite convinced that this is a format I want to stick with.
Zach,
I just finally bought a roll of 65 from your site, after finding an eyepiece extender for the 645 70mm insert. I have read the news that Kodak will stop sales of Vision 3 to all but bona fide motion picture productions, though I don't know the details. Can you say whether or not Mercury...
Hey Zach, yeah, this is what I gathered from the others already, but thanks for chiming in. I'll get two max offset spools from your store, and some film and see how it goes. I may just send the initial roll out for developing until I can get the right equipment (y'know, just to really be sure...
Wow, thanks for all these great replies so quickly!
@MCB18 - Thanks for the link to the film stock for sale. Again, I think that the unperfed stuff won't work in a 645 insert, but I'll keep learning and maybe go for it if I learn differently.
@Sonynolta User - Hah! Moron isn't the term I had...
