Find a friend with a table saw, cut a variety of 1/2" MDF particle board to 8x10, 11x14, 16x20, etc.
They're heavy enough and don't slide around.
Patches of double stick tape flatten curled paper.
Cut some window mats for various print sizes. (6x8 window on 8x10 paper looks nice)
Hold the mats...
This fellow designed a camera having a septum to split a 5x7 sheet into two 2.5x7" images on one Reversible 5x7 sheet film holder...
Why not adapt the idea with a removable insert for your 8x10?

One wall of the DARK room part of my basement has vertically offset vents. A fan directed to the outside lower (ankle level) vent can't blow turbulent air thru of the inside ceiling level vent.
For BIG prints I used a common 4" painters foam brush in a homemade resin coated tray, just kept it moving, no scratching or marking.
Separate brushes for developer, for stop, for fixer, etc. worked fine.
