In the Rolleiflex instruction manual, which covers both the f2.8 and the f3.5 Rolleiflex, it states there is no difference between the two other than the taking lens. Everything else is the same. I have owned my f 3.5 Xenotar for over fifty years and have never found a reason to go with the f 2.8.
Late, but I just saw this post and wanted to comment. I purchased a Bessa R3a several years ago with a Voitlander 40 f 1.4 lens. I have four different Leica Ms, but got curious about AE in a rangefinder. True, they haven't been made in 15 years or more. The one I bought had a full service...
Years ago, in the late 1980s, I had a Nikon 135 f 2.8. I always felt that I was either too far or too close, never comfortable. I sold it after a couple of months. I haven't had one since.

Irwin Putts stated that there is no difference between Leica products from Canada vers Germany. As people have said, without the M4-2 there would not have been a Leica.
I have one 90, that's the Elmarit f 2.8. It is solidly built and makes great images. It was owned by one person, who never used it. If I need speed, there's always my Canada 75 f 1.4.
I have a Pentax 6x7, Hasselblad, and Pentax 6.45 systems. I have used them all over the years that I was doing editorial photography. I also shot and maintained my own stock photo library. Walking around street photography can be done with any of the three systems. There are drawbacks: reloading...
My M6 is an original, and the meter is working fine. For my Ms without a built-in meter, I use the Voigtlander meter IIs. A little pricey, but compared to the Chinese stuff flooding the market, worth it. One sits on my M2 the other on my M4-P
I just received my M2 back from DAG. It's one with the M4 quick load tulip installed by Leica, manufactured in September 1966. As always, DAG did his fantastic servicing. He performed a CLA plus a full overhaul. Don advised that he is very busy; it seems like everyone wants to get their Leicas...
