I recently acquired a Kodak Automatic 35F, and I'm trying to get it back to working condition, but the pressure plate has completely detached from the film back. It seems that it was originally held on with a foam spacer and adhesive, which has since totally disintegrated.

I would try oxidizing the sulfur to a sulfate with bleach. It might be slow, but the sulfate should come off in hot water. Pinky-grey could be a mixture of pink sodium selenite and gray selenium-- bleach could be another good choice there.
