My main camera is a Lumix G70. I originally bought it new with an Olympus 18-35mm but after the aperture failed I moved to a TTArtisan 25mm, I also have an adapter for Contax/Yashica lens 'cause I own quite a few, and it's good glass.
I absolutely love this camera. It's small, feels well built...
Let me try to answer all your questions:
1: I use the ball head 'cause is the one that came with my tripod, I like it and it works. But if you are going to buy a dedicated head (and have the funds to do soo) the post by @silvergelatin is the way to go (I use a geared head w/ a Sinar 4x5).

It happened to me once with some Compard R09, I had a bottle (1/2l) for around 2yrs and never had issues, even at the end with lots of crystals and a syrup already tar color. Then I bought a new bottle of the same brand but 125cc version, around 6 months later I got very thin negatives out of it.
Well... It's always nice to know that I'm not the only weirdo that calls "buying puzzles" to all the junk that I buy to repair. I've been int watches and radios, before I went into college, then started on fixing cameras, but also worked on turntables, typewriters and cassette players. Now I...
