Received the camera today and it looks great. He also included a thumb drive of images taken during the repair which is a nice touch. I will certainly send future business his way.
I just re-read what I wrote and you’re right, it does sound like I was paying in advance. No, I got an estimate at the beginning of April, sent the camera to them, and just today got the notification that the job was finished along with an invoice. So, assuming that the camera shows up sometime...
$450 for an overhaul including shutter work that was the primary reason for sending it out.
No, of course not. I’ll report back once I’ve received the camera.
It’s subtle but my IIIf shutter seems louder than my Model C, Model D, and Model F Barnacks. No idea why but the black/nickel cameras just seem quieter. Maybe it’s because they’re prettier…
Some photos from the steam plant, all taken with my Pentax 6x7/75mm f4.5 on HP5 developed in Rodinal. Need a better tripod setup for this camera I think...

Paris for a week then heading south through Lyon to Montpellier. Are there any interesting vintage photo stores, flea markets, etc. that can be recommended?
This is great! I’ve always meant to visit the steam plant but never got around to it. I’ll be there.
Any particular issues with tripods? I imagine light levels are pretty low in there…
