Thank you for the manual reference. I offered my note about re-attaching the crank because the manual doesn't point out that the crank cannot be re-attached if there is no film in the camera.

To re-attach the crank handle (it isn't actually for rewinding anything, but it does cock the shutter) is almost impossible without either having the camera loaded (with film) or you can try this: open the back of the camera and load a dummy roll, fresh or exposed, into the lower film roll...
