    Schneider-Kreuznach Retina-Xenon 50mm f/1.9 Lens Calibration

That seems like it worked. Thanks for the info. Really cool process process. I’m going to compare results to the focus screen method and see how they compare out of curiosity.

    Schneider-Kreuznach Retina-Xenon 50mm f/1.9 Lens Calibration

I don’t have a digital camera (other than an old point and shoot) or I would try that method for sure! It’ll have to keep it mind for the future. I might be totally off base with the science behind it, but would it work with an SLR with a telephoto lens? Interesting to hear about the parallax...

    Schneider-Kreuznach Retina-Xenon 50mm f/1.9 Lens Calibration

Oh good that’s great. I had looked up the hyperfocal distance and it wasn’t super far so I was curious why people seemed to think miles and miles were better

    Schneider-Kreuznach Retina-Xenon 50mm f/1.9 Lens Calibration

I recently did a bit of a disassembly, cleaning, and lubrication of this lens that came with my Retina IIIS and now need to calibrate the focus to the rangefinder on the IIIS. I'll be using a split prism focusing screen scavenged from a non functioning Minolta X300. From what I understand, the...

    E6 Dye Question

Wow interesting! The results seem to look totally normal so I guess whatever they did isn’t out of the box. I’ll have to ask them next time I’m in. Maybe it’s just been in the language for their service and somehow ended up online

    E6 Dye Question

Yeah I should probably give them a call. The way they phrased it sounded like it was a known thing but maybe not finding any info on it should have been a tip off

    E6 Dye Question

So one of my local labs develops E6 and I just dropped off a roll there for the first time. I noticed on their website it said something that I didn’t understand and can’t seem to find a clear answer in googling. They say: “e6 film is processed standard WITHOUT a color dye applied after...
  8. Discard Negatives ??!!!

Yes that’s probably a more accurate way to say it
  9. Discard Negatives ??!!!

I haven’t done it but I’m pretty sure it’s some sort of online file holder like Dropbox or something similar

Does anyone rewind partially exposed rolls in order to switch film?

Incidentally, any idea why it would cause scratching? I wouldn’t think it a couple extra passes into and out of the canister would cause that but maybe I’m missing something

Does anyone rewind partially exposed rolls in order to switch film?

I’ve done a it a couple times and it seems as though it works fine. I figure I’m losing a frame or two or I risk double exposing part/all of a frame so I just as one or two extra onto the exposure count. I don’t have anything to retrieve the film if it goes all the way in the canister so I just...

IPhone light meter apps, are they good enough?

I use Lightmate and I’ve always had good results. I like being able to tap different areas of the screen to verify which spot I’m metering for. My only complaint is a dumb and not the apps fault: pulling my phone out is annoying so I ordered a Doomo D to mount on my Retina without a meter and...
  13. Newbie In General

I’ve posted a little here and there, but this seems like the spot! I am new as of about January this year to film photography and photography in general. I feel very fortunate to have discovered this little world. It started when my grandfather pretty much said “here want this?” and handed me a...
  14. Discard Negatives ??!!!

There is a lab near me that will automatically destroy negatives if you request that scans be delivered by email. The explanation was that they had to many people not coming in and picking up their negatives once they had the scans. So in the end I might blame the customers more than the lab...

    Kodak Retina IIIS Info

I hope so too but yeah hard to know for sure. On their website they do claim it doesn’t evaporate which I guess is just outgassing by another name. I’ve considered the helicoid greases as well. It seems like they would have to be safe around optical glass so that’s a possibility. In all...
