    Fomapan Creative 200 120 Black dots and...streaks

So where can I buy this film? The only Fuji black and white film in the USA is AcrosII and even that is really made by Harman. And paper and chemicals have never been available here if black and white is your thing. And Fuji keeps cutting it's color film lines, in the US market anyway.

Great! Now would be nice if Fuji actually made any film products.....

    Kodak XTOL trade concern announcment

I just cannot imagine how a brand (Kodak) that you could trust by the name alone would contract out to a dictatorship with a reputation for low quality junk. Certainly there must be reputable chemical companies besides Tetenal. Might cost more but the Kodak name going down the toilet would cost...

Moving seemlessly over to Ilfotec HC from HC-110

For over a century, you could trust the Kodak name implicitly. Today it means nothing. Like a new Rolls Royce model that comes with a used Yugo engine under the hood. At least Ilford still means Ilford no matter what’s really in the package.

Film choices for box cameras, older folders, pseudo TLRs?

I would think FP4+ is the closest you can get today to Verichrome which was THE film for box cameras and the like. I don’t know how much it has changed over the years but isn’t FP4 an old fashioned double coated film designed similar to Verichrome to have plenty of latitude? And the speed would...

Mixed my own D-76 Low ph?

I’m no chemist but it sounds like a jug of distilled water would be more worthwhile than a Ph meter, unless you already tried distilled. Also chemicals of known purity and grade. As someone already mentioned the formulae should be self correcting if mixed properly.

    Washing BW film after processing

Oops. Sorry Vaughn. You did mention it. Nobody else brought it up and I assumed this was a general thread on film washing so I bring it up again because it makes all the difference.

    Washing BW film after processing

I don’t think anyone mentioned that the type of fixer makes a big difference. @ Cholentpot for example. The 15-20 minutes is the minimum wash time if you use a hardening fixer without HCA. Kodak always suggested going for 30 minutes. The Ilford method and the five minute method only work with...

    White dots

I get my film from B&H or Freestyle just like most Americans. FP4 at B&H is USD 6.09 for a 120 roll. A roll of the Fomapan 100 is 4.79 That is the cheapest I can get either for. For me the extra 1.30 is well worth it even if my finances have taken a hit during COVID 19. Getting it right the...

    White dots

I love the results I get with Foma film, but here we go again with the QC issues. Is there any reason why they cannot get the standards up to Ilford or Kodak? A smaller and newer company (Adox) can do it or so it seems so why can’t a company as old as Foma? If they have to raise the price so...

Can PXP be dated from the backing paper?

I started shooting 120 for the first time in 1989 and the Kodak rolls I remember had predominantly green or purple backing paper at the end on the “Exposed” part. About 1991 or so they switched to the backing paper the OP has shown if I remember correctly. I bet if you Google Kodak 120 or...

    blank film, dead Rodinal?

Adox APH09 was an old 1945 Agfa formula for Rodinal. Adox offered it as an alternative to the 2004 formula which is sold as Rodinal or Adonal. For a few years they offered both versions until APH09 was discontinued about two years ago.

    blank film, dead Rodinal?

Looks like you have a bottle of Rollei Compard R09. It is claimed to be the exact same as Agfa Rodinal. They just can’t use the Rodinal or Adonal name as those trademarks are already registered.

Minolta MC Rokkor-PG 58mm f/1.2 Lens Blocked from International Shipment -- any ideas?

So what is in an invoice that differs from what is on a customs declaration? Couldn't a scammer just print up a fake? Or AgX could have just made one up at home to show the customs officer? I would have thought that what you'd put on the postal form can be verified if they really wanted to or...

Minolta MC Rokkor-PG 58mm f/1.2 Lens Blocked from International Shipment -- any ideas?

Wow!!! That's news to me. Of all the customs troubles I've heard of, that is one I've yet to hear. I do a lot of international shipping myself, though not photography related. Your story got my interest so I looked at the USPS website and it looks like yours was not a postal issue but a...
