Zac the Bartender

This is Zac, bartender at my favorite watering hole in Raleigh. I took this portrait with my Yashica T4, which goes with me everywhere. I used Tri-X film, stand-developed in Rodinal 1:100. This was printed on ILFORD Multigrade paper with a #1 filter.

Nice image for a crappy "point and shoot" but the forearms are a bit blown out... I've never stand developed tri-x though.

Yeah that seems to be an unfortunate side effect of an otherwise great P&S. If I have enough ambient light, I'll turn the flash off (which is annoyingly set to "auto" every time you turn it on). The flash does tend to go above and beyond the call of duty. That happens to me even if I use more conventional development techniques, so I don't think it has anything to do with the stand development. I think having that chrome tumbler right in front of his forearm gave him an extra dose.

A Yashica T4 has a Zeiss lens. Not exactly a 'crappy p&s'. They turn up in thrift stores now and then because people don't know what they have.
