Yosemite Creek

I saw this scene several time as I was on my way to my camp at camp 4. It is right behind the Yosemite Lodge along Yosemite creek. The sun was still low and I just liked the overall scene.

What a magnificent place. Beautiful photograph.

All the best,

Thanks, for me the scene had great depth. I may dodge the foreground a little bit on the next print just to open it up a bit. F-64 is a good thing and this little 240 is a nice lens. I've shot it at F-90 and it performs very well.

Andrew, thanks. I went by this scene like I said several times and it stuck in my mind the first time I saw it. The composition was there. The great thing about Yosemite is even though the greats have given us the best work, there are still amazing images to be found. I appreciate your comments.

Jim,
keep checking your prints out, good job. Is there a reason you don't agitate during development. I can understand if the shots had a wide density range. But you are using Azo and the contrast range doesn't look that large..

If this were my print, I would consider eliminating the sky.

Just my 2 cents...... a very nice photo.

Michael, actually there is a great range of contrast in this scene. The Azo I have is the new '06 grade 2 which is very soft. Also, these are all straight prints. I wanted to see what the negs had to offer. The minimal agitation with the Pyrocat-HD has been working ok for me and I'm finally getting a handle on my times and agitation. Printing is the final part that needs work and inspiration. once I study the prints I can then do final ones. Some are not to bad as they are. This one needs some work on the foreground as the whites are not right The sky is not where I want it either so I need to work more on this one. I like the composition and I think it deserves a second effort.
John, I wrestling with the sky. I used a #12 filter and it did not do much. I don't want to loose the balance with out the sky but we'll see. Thanks for your comments.
