Yokut Pictograph, Camp Nelson

For three years, I lived in the mountain town of Camp Nelson, California enjoying some of the happiest years of my life... This petroglyph is located not far off a side trail that splits from the trail along the Middle Fork of the Tule River, just past Belknap Campground. I can't remember who told me where to find it, it was common knowledge among my acquaintences.

Camp Nelson, California
Camp Nelson? I know that name from somewhere. Dim past. Is that near Visalia?
I love these relics. Saw many during my years in the Nevada bush. Used to look for arrowheads out there too.

Haa... Ken you probably heard it from me. I never stop talking about that place.Yes it's south of Visalia. Up the hill from Porterville.

Ahh... Porterville, Tulare, Visalia. That's Wolfman Jack territory from American Graffiti. All the way from Visalia up Highway 99 through Fresno, Madera, and into Turlock and Modesto.

No, not from you. I know that from somewhere else long ago. What goes on there? Or went on there back in the Wolfman days?
