Some advise on making the image larger, please. The image is around 500K when saved for the web in PHotoshop. When I manipulate the resolution, size and pixels to match the 150K and 650x650 size requirement it seems the only way to make it work is to make it too small.
David,
Take the full sized image. Go to IMAGE-image size. Set the resolution to 72 pixel/inch. Then set your longest side (height in this case) to say 500(whatever you want up to 650) pixels and let the shorter side set itself accordingly(make sure Constrain Proportions and Resample Image are checked). Do any sharpening you feel necesarry and go to FILE save as. Save as a jpeg and after you click OK after naming it another small screen will pop up. There is a sliding scale which allows you to adjust the compression. At the bottom the leftmost number under size shows you the image file size as you move the scale. Make that fit just under the 150k limit and click ok. Feel free to e-mail me if you have any more questions. Shawn
The print is neutral with only a very dilute selenium tone for stability, not color. A friend scanned this for me as my computer can't connect to my old SCSI scanner. It did have a wonky color cast to the scan as you note. You are right that a print is so different than a web image. A web image only seems to give a sense of the photograph with no real presence. I could be wrong but a photograph is the print, this is a fascimile.
