I love the way that the trees and rocks in the distance hold their individuality as distinct objects. It really makes this a stand-out among similar photos.
Hey, I just noticed that you took this in Harriman Park. I'm a local and have spent much time both backpacking and photographing there (I live down towards the Suffern end). Now you have to be more specific as to the location. I'm guessing the Seven Lakes side of the park?
neal, it's on the 'harriman' dirt road which borders the northern west side of the park. it begins near the parking lot closest to the Appalachian Trail. when you walk south about a half a mile, you cross a stream on a little bridge which is where this was taken. see you in the woods!
I'm still not sure where you are talking about but there is a lot of similar beautiful scenery in Harriman. The only part of the Appalacian that I have hiked in that area is the part with the aptly named "Agony Grind" section. I can't say that I recommend it.
this image holds me captive every time I look at it. It has all these little images within the image, and I find myself exploring the scenery. It conveys a sense of being there, beholding this landscape in person.
Very good job. More like these, please!
thank you all for your kind comments. (btw, i love the screenname huggyviking...i keep thinking of "hagar the horrible" with an 8x10 and big ole wooden tripod slung over his bearskin wrapped shoulder. funny!)
