Wollman Rink, Noblex 6/150F

Just testing my new Noblex, which I purchased from Ted Harris' estate via Amy Rafferty.

It's amazing how sharp these negs are edge to edge. Looking at this 4x10" print on air dried glossy FB (about an 85% crop from the full 50x120mm neg) with a 6X loupe I can make out the faces pretty clearly, and this is a handheld shot at 1/250 sec., f:5.6. It would be even sharper with a tripod, f:8, slower film, and a glossy print. I sold off my 6x17 back to pay for this camera, and I'd say I made a good trade, since the negs fit my 4x5" enlarger, and the sharpness of the swing lens camera makes up for the smaller neg.

I'll have to do some comparison shots with 4x10" on my 8x10" camera with a half-frame mask to figure out when the cylindrical projection looks more natural than the orthographic projection.

Unsharpness courtesy of the Nikon Coolpix 990 used to digitize the print.

Here's a 3/8" wide section of the print, and it still doesn't look as sharp as it does looking directly at the print with a 6x loupe--

I really enjoy this photograph and the apparent sharpness is quite good also ...
