Came across this while wandering around the Gowanus Canal just before xmas a couple of years ago. I really wish I'd had a wider angle lens at the time, and maybe a larger format camera. There was no way one shot could really do justice to the scene. Also, the yard was pretty much always in shadow, so it was hard to get good light. Near the door there's a handwritten sign that says "With God all things are possible."
I love this kind of scene. Maybe because I don't have the imagination to create it myself but I appreciate the vision of those who do. Cries out for colour but not highly saturated colour. The public in general has lost the ability to appreciate "normal colour" with digi prints where everything looks like the stark primary colours used in the "Dick Tracy" film to replicate the early colour comic books. The stark, oversaturated colours were the result of an inability to produce true colours on paper at a reasonable price and now we applaud such things in prints! Well the brainwashed do
Reminds me of a place in Cyprus, near Paphos which was fascinating also.
