Travellers on this old route through the hills used to press coins into the bark of this hawthorn tree for protection. Unfortunately it blew down in a storm a few years ago, but it is still laden with coins and wishes...
Gavin, as usual I really love the sky and the mood, but to be honest I think you need a bit more separation between the tree trunk and the grass. Perhaps some filtration would help?
Otherwise it's a super composition with a glorious light! (as usual)

Thomas - you're right, a bit more separation would 'lift' the picture. Had another look at the tranny on the lightbox and I think the scan is a little darker than than the original, but, even so, I think your suggestion is spot-on. Thanks for help.
