Winter Holding House

In times past, winter conditions made it impossible to bury the dead. Older cemeteries often have 'receiving' or 'dead' houses to shelter and store the bodies until spring. Modern methods have rendered such structures obsolete, but they remain on the cemetery landscape--used for other things.
