Windpoint Lighthouse.

I was having a bit of fun with some old Kodak Porta 160NC C-41 film.

I developed this 120 film in a 400ML steel developing container.

I used:

22g Washing Soda
0.5g Potassium Bromide (or a pinch or 2 of iodized table salt)
6g Vitamin C (ascorbic acid from health food store-powder)
16g Folgers Instant Coffee.

Mix it in order. Measure temperature. Mine was 75F/23.9C

5 minute water presoak. 9 minute development. 3 gentle inversions at the top of every minute. Water Stop Bath. Fixer- 5 min with a 10 minute rinse. a little Kodak Photoflow in water to keep water spots off. Or you can use a couple drops of dishsoap in water to keep the water from drying with spots.

Is this print for sale?
  1. Yes
Looks good. In fact every bit as good as a neg from a traditional B&W neg film. Have you made prints in the past from C41 Portra film developed in B&W developer and if so, do you have to increase grade compared to trad B&W film. Thanks

This is a scanned image. I have tried to print c-41 film as a B&W photo, before. One of the photos in my favorites is of the DC-9 cockpit I use to fly. It is the actual print. It was super dense but that was before I started overexposing the film. My Beseler M45 is not set up but I do want to try it. These negatives are overexposed by a stop and would probably print pretty good. Maybe I will try it this weekend. Caffenol on C-41 emulsions you really have to overexpose. Caffenol.blogspot.com is a great reference as well as caffenol.org. It's been awhile since I tried caffenol development. Thanks for the comments. I have some Rollei Retro 80s in my camera right now and shooting it at 40. Hope it turns out good
