I recently visited my wife's family's ancestral home in Scotland- a beautiful place, albeit with some challenging weather. This photograph was taken just down the road from the old stone croft- kept up and modernized a bit.
Very nice Daniel. I think I like it better cropped right at the bottom of the building - top of rock wall, yet still seeing the distant pasture on top right edge. Beautiful tones as usual.
Thanks for your comments, Donald and Victor. I wanted to keep the building in the composition, but toned it down considerably to keep it from pulling the eye too much. I thought it would be a minor stopping point for the eye following the path of the lines.
Thanks Jan and John. Jan, the toning I used was sequential- selenium first and then thiocarbamide. It works the other way around as well. Have fun, and I look forward to seeing your results.
Hmmm, that's two votes now for lopping off the house (I don't have any qualms about cropping; heck, this started out as a square neg and it has already lost a telephone pole). I'll consider it, and I do appreciate your suggestions.
