Photo taken in the National Zoo, Washington, DC. Photo in the Microsoft Encarta Encyclopedia from the inception in 1994 too Present. The tiger is actually scent marking.
As mentioned, this was confirmed by a tiger expert that the tiger is actually scent marking. A friend of mine indicated that in this image the tiger looks like a big stretching house cat.
The black spots on the tigers coat are actually flies. In the large prints you can actually see some of the flies with their wings open.
These white tigers are not albinos and this animal has blue eyes. The white tigers in captivity have been inbreed. This animal had to be destroyed several years ago due to extreme arthritic problems.
Thank you very much for the compliment. Taking photos of animals is certainly easier with the proper equipment, surroundings, and conditions. Knowing your subject, just as in landscape photography is valuable, but, you do have to anticipate the animals actions to get the best results. Rich
