"They're not that different from you, are they? Same haircuts. Full of hormones, just like you. Invincible, just like you feel. The world is their oyster. They believe they're destined for great things, just like many of you. Their eyes are full of hope, just like you."
This is a toned enlargement from a very thin, rough 4x5 glass plate negative. It was made by me in the mid-1980s. It appears to be a turn-of-the-last-century baseball team photo. And one without much of a depth chart. The boys look too old to be high school kids, I think. But maybe not. I have no idea what team it might be. The jerseys are maddeningly posed so that only the letters "RLR" and "Com" are visible on each one. The "RLR-something Comets?" I don't know.
Look at the glove held by the 2nd player from the right. One way to help date the photo would be to get a better look at the webbing between thumb and index finger. If that's a solid piece of leather (and it looks like it is), it would fit with turn of the century (1900-1915).
I didn't see this one when you first posted it... I think it's my favourite from this series, although I may be biased given that you quoted one of my favourite movies - and so aptly, at that!
