Good colour. I like the way the taxi sign is positioned in the darker part of the print.

very cool! I like that it makes me feel like I'm getting ready to cross the street after the taxi passes! I like the movement!

My perception is that the only focus, which is on the taxi, is not that interesting since it is not an old, classic taxi cab design, and the background--from it all the way to infinity--should be in focus. Indeed, the variety of architecture in the background, the rain puddles with colorful reflections in them, and the pedestrians would be vastly more interesting to a viewer than the cab. Another way to perceive this is to see that the viewer's frame of perception is just about the same as the cab driver's: looking onto the main street from the side street, in which case everything on the main street in front of us would be in focus via our eyes. IOW, the angle presented in the photo leads into a vast area that is out of focus, creating an unnatural look. Nice try, though!

tbm, maybe it's the contrast of the new cab against the older buildings that the photographer finds interesting?

Imagine, for example, the street filled with dead bodies. We first see the cab in focus, then our eyes aim in the direction the cab is, toward the street. We then see what appear to be numerous supine shapes on the street, but they are out of focus. Nevertheless, they appear to resemble human bodies, but they are so out of focus, we can't determine that. So our eyes move back to the cab which looks like millions of consumer cars out there rather than something unique, and we end up being frustrated. Study the work of the great photographers of the 20th century and you will see what I am referring to.

I agree about the focus, and that it would be better with a sharp background. Unfortunately with the rain and the limited depth of field at F1.7 (handheld) I wasn't thinking too much about focus, I was trying to capture the light without getting too wet!

Now I like this one, view it large and sit back (have a coffee and a smoke I did) and just look at the screen. It becomes quite cinematic with yourself and the taxi motionless and the rest of the world rushing by like lab rats

Lovely image. I'm not at all bothered by the lack of focus. In fact I still find myself looking more at the buildings and the scene around the cab than the cab. I think if the buildings were more in focus it would ruin the illusion of movement and actually draw more attention to the cab - for me anyway.

Viewing this clinically I'd have to agree with TBM's comments, but nevertheless I find it just w CInematic describes it well, it feels like it's telling a small part of a story.
