Hi Brendan. Thanks for posting. I have been watching these series unfold, all the while letting my thoughts crystallize. After a couple of weeks, it seems to me that you have a tiger by the tail with the Sonata series. I would call the Sonata series “emotional” whereas I see this image as “representational”. Therefore, as a humble and admittedly unschooled gallery viewer, the Sonata suite engages me more rewardingly. I sense a plein air immediacy and spontaneity in the sonatas, a pure response to chiaroscuro, that does not shine as brightly in your non-sonata images. This is not the critique gallery, so please do not consider this post as a critique of your buildings/landscapes. Rather, consider it a heartfelt encouragement to pursue the Sonata series even further. There is room in this world for hundreds, if not thousands, of such images.
