I get the impression that this photo was taken with a tripod being used. I may be incorrect on that. It would have been helpful, I believe to have moved a bit to the right which would have given more separation between the pump and the red object in the background. I also feel that 1/500 of a sec at 5.6 would have been better from a selective focus standpoint.
As a matter of fact this was hand-held, although I was on my knees at the time.
I agree about the move to the right. At the time I shot this, I was trying to avoid some direct sun that from this position was blocked by one of the distant trees. I was probably over-influenced by the desire to avoid flare.
As I look at this now, I wonder if my notes and recollections are incorrect. I think that I may very well have used a larger aperture for this shot than indicated above. I agree, though, that even more selective focus would be better.
The red object is designed to look like a fire hydrant, but is actually a source of spray when the water park is in operation.
