Water Tower

Water Tower

Last week I took part in a cycle challenge from Normandy to Burgundy over three days. Early on the second day, literally as the sun was rising, we came across this water tower in the mist. The light was fantastic and I stopped the support vehicle, grabbed my Leica and metered the scene. 1/8sec at f/2.8 with a 90mm lens! It shows just how forgiving a rangefinder can be with slow shutter speeds. I leant against the van and took four shots. This was the sharpest. Although not pin-sharp the slight softness works with the scene and it's better than not getting the shot at all!

Beautiful image. Aren't you glad you were able to stop and get the photo? Seems like the kind of image that could haunt you if you had missed it.
