This was shot on the San Francisco river in Xique-Xique, over the summer.
Amazingly, between the underexposed & badly flared frames in the 3 rolls I shot there, this one printed beautifully with no contrast filters at all.
This scan is pretty close to the print, but there's more detail in the shadows in the print (although the tonality is pretty much the same). This was also printed in a 3 week old working solution of ID-78 .
I like it. The slightly wonky horizon niggles a little, but I'm sure some would disagree. I can make out his face, but it is a little tough. A real print with far better tones and contrast would undoubtedly reveal a lot more, so no probs there. What is apparent is that you have clear style running through your work. It is excellent work and identifiable as yours.
Carol, you are right, and if I recall correctly, he asked me why I would want a picture of him washing his bike. I told him that I was photographing life as best I could... He agreed to it, but wondered if it wouldn't be better if I came back a bit later...
There seems to be a band running from top to bottom of plus density in this image. sorry but when I look at images with horizons and skys I am looking for eveness of tone and density, could it be my moniter?
You're right, there is a band, but it's due to the fact that I have to scan my prints in 2 parts and then stich them together in PS. My scanner likes to "auto expose" even when I turn the AE off, so I deal with it the best way I can. The print is fine, though.
i like your photo and this composition with the childs playing in the background.
i feel something surrealist with the man and his bike in the water ..........
just one word beautiful ....and for all your photo in your website
