WALL & SKY

This is another in my shots on the "Stone walls & Peat bogs" series. This is an ongoing photographic quest to show photographically the comparisions between both elements.

PS- Have you seen abstract painter Sean Scully's book of b+w photos of Aran walls, called, surprisingly enough(!), 'Walls of Aran'? Also, Steve Pyke has done some great stuff too, one of which is the inside cover of Irish sean-nos singer Iarla O 'Lionaird's album 'I could read the sky', see http://www.pyke-eye.com/view/icrt18.html

A good idea for a series, and well realised here. The sky could maybe handle some more density to increase the separation, but you would have to see the print.

Hi Gavin & Tony,

Thanks for your comments. The idea for this series came to me after a visit to the Sean Scully exhibition. His prints 20 X 16 were very impressive and worked on a level that I did'nt expect. The photo's made me appreciate the craft of the builders of the walls and the various patterns they created in order to build them. These patterns were echoed in the painting's of Scully that were also on display.
My series is based on the similarities that occur between cut turf and stone walls and the pattern they make upon the landscape. At least that's what I'm hoping to show.
Thanks again.

Cheers
Vincent (TEX)
