I would conjecture that the illustration is overly contrasty and perhaps could have been underexposed...of course it could be just the way it is "printed" that makes me think so.

I find it to be an interesting photo.

I like the structure and contrast in it and the good idea too. Maybe the street can be missed for a stronger and "stranger" effect.
