Great shot. The bike has what appears to be a full derailleur set of gears as well so he should be able to take his passenger to Vancouver easily. It is only a few miles away, isn't it

On a more serious note it is time a lot more of us had such bikes to collect the groceries instead of automatically jumping into cars for short journeys and adding to the C02 and pollution
 
Thanks all. A Vancouver trip may be an issue with the mountains...but for the prairies just attach a sail and you're good to go.
 
In years to come the kid wins the Tour de France because of his climbing skills and they ask him what does he owe his success to and he says: "Well it was a man called Colin who said as a joke that I should try and ride the bike all the way to Vancouver. So I did and once you've done that the Alps are no problem"
