Local watering hole with a certain Yorkshire charm, and another opportunity to whip out the Xpan. The lady is the landlord and wanted to know if I was from the brewery spying on them again!
As attractive as the roof may be, I think this image would benefit from having it removed , other then that, I think it is a nice image and the figuire is dffenetly a plus here...
Ah, the Victoria Arms, there's an experience! I like the pan treatment and the landlady adds the finishing touch. This looks as if it could have been taken 50 years ago.
I think the panoramic format really suits this image - I like the roof! If this is the place I think I remember it probably hasn't changed in 50 years, either!
Thanks for all the comments. It's certainly a place full of character and characters - the landlord and landlady perhaps being the most intriguing. It's a pleasant 20 minute walk from home and, although not regulars, we often visit when we have sophisticated city slicker friends staying with us to give them that real Yorkshire/dales 'welcome'.
Re the image - on reflection I agree that cropping some of the roof out, so it makes for a consitent and unbroken texture across the top of the print, would be an improvement and one I'll probably make if and when I print larger.
