This is part of a large series that I am doing at Versailles. I am going back tomorrow to finish up the photographing for this project.

Why are the monuments covered?
 
This is my favorite of those posted. This is probably the most graphic yet there is definately a sense of mystery here... almost a sort of glowing unease. Looks like a great project. Are you going to do this a formal portfolio? Best. doc
 
Mark, the marble statues are covered for the winter to protect them against freezing and possible damage from cracking. an interesting thing is that I have never seen them uncovered. I have seen a few pictures here and there, but I have not gone out to find pictures of them on the internet- it is almost like they are more special becasue they are covered.

Yes Doc, I am going to make these into a portfolio with text and a linen covered box. I always thought that they needed to be seem, shown and kept together as a set.
 
Shades of Atget, this whole series... I like it. It balances between mysterious and matter-of-fact in a good way.
