Varnished Platinum on Claybord

Varnished Platinum on Claybord

A few weeks ago a fellow Apuger posted a platinum print on claybord. I thought it looked interesting so I experimented printing an older negative on claybord. The image didn't clear as well as I would like. I will extend the clearing time next print. I varnished the print with the same varnish I use for wet plates. I like the overall effect. It is sort of a cross between platinum and a glossy tin type. More experiments to come.

Very cool! Glad to see claybord getting more attention, I think it's got some great possibilities. I also tried varnishing and it does wonderful things. The other thing that adds a very interesting quality is encaustic wax.

Beautiful image!
