I sort of wish you had pulled those branches and leaves on the left out of the way, but I like that strange element (rail from a train line?) that zooms in from the right and slams into the large rock on the left.

Its a segment from an old logging railway that cuts through the Smoky Mts. Most were removed when logging activity ceased, but apparently this one was just tossed behind the waterfall.

As for the branch, I wanted to see if selective focus did anything more for the shot.

Perhaps if the branch and leaves had a tonality close to the leaves on the right, they would have given a sense of three dimensions. As presented, they form more of a visual barrier for me. My eye is attracted to the lighter tones and it is difficult for me to visually continue past them.

I realize that this is not the critique gallery, so please excuse my non-positive comments. I appreciate your willingness to experiment with compositional elements, instead of going with the tried and true, as we have a tendency to do.

Perhaps I can better explain what I was looking at when I composed the image. I saw a stream that led into a bifurcated waterfall and then led to a shallow pool. The right hand waterfall was more interesting to my eye, but I did not want to obscure the left hand one. I chose to use the branch and leaves to frame the image, but if they were darker, they would have hidden the left hand waterfall and would have truncated the picture. Maybe the the image works and maybe its a near miss, but that was my perspective when I created it.

Thank you both for your comments.
