It looks as if they are having a very emotional moment.
It is a great street shot and then one looks again and it looks posed also.
Good work.
I also want to know if, when one takes a shot like this is, one obliged to ask permission from the subjects.
Can they go after you if you publish it?
I do not know the answer,

Great photo, great moment. I'm curious about the Double-X film. Is this a vintage photograph when that film is still available? The couple in the photo look contemporary, so I'm guessing that's not the case. Therefore it suggests, you're using old film? That's very brave of you, and you got good results. Perhaps someone is storing that film in the vault in Antarctica, keeping it fresh enough to get the kind of values you got in that photo, L O L.

Thanks. Does look like a film still, right. My wife and I were walking from Ornithology (jazz club) on Broadway in Bushwick on a Thursday from seeing Dida Pelled and passed a DIY space having some punk bands so being from the punk era we went inside for a bit. At the end of the set everyone went out onto the sidewalk. I saw this couple and took two quick shots as we were walking away.

Grahamp: Lighting was thanks to NYC street lamp under the JM elevated train on Broadway. They are quite bright in that you can easily shoot at 60 f/2 anytime at night. Having a Summilux doesn't hurt either, they are contrasty.
Gaston: No permission when on the street. I've been yelled at and called names but generally haven't had any issues. I also rarely take photos of strangers. I'm not a lawyer but I'm sure anyone can sue you for anything.
Artonaper: Double-X is current black and white movie stock. I buy 400' reels from Kodak and split it up for bulk loading.
