This old underwood was spotted at the antique flea market. We had one of these floating around the house as a kid. The roller disintegrated so we pitched it. I wish we'd kept it.
mfohl: I'm not sure why us analog photographers like old typewriters, but I think I'll soon get one. Maybe it's the enjoyment of the tactile feel of the old machine, much like the enjoyment we get from the mechanical feel we get with the old film cameras. Ask Joe VanCleave, he loves his old typewriters and uses them regularly. Check out Blue moon Camera and machine out of Seattle... they sell cameras and typewriters. So the two must go together.
Yeah, we probably pitched it 30 years ago. The roller had disintegrated and there was wood showing. The small feed rollers had flat spots on them. It was pretty tired, but I still wish we had kept it.
