A pair of small brass valves, in the studio. I did a series of studies on these valves, alternating between a normal lens and a soft-focus lens. This is with the soft focus lens
This reminds me of the old grammar jingle from elementary school - "When two valves go walking . . ."
And what I like, too, about this image is how photography can so transform beyond what the actual subject is. The subject is transformed into something else entirely. In this image, the hard metal of the valves is changed into something soft and pliable. The glowing highlights transform the subjects into ethereal objects. They exist within an indefinable space. No longer themselves and yet still identifiable. I enjoy this kind of magic trick that photography does so well.
