There are millions of Tulips planted around Istanbul. JPEG compression really killed the image. Everything was so natural , smooth and high quality , colors were nature inspired , front to back rendering was excellent. But 17megabyte to 250 KB killed the originality , now it looks like Paint Windows painting.
Still looks good, I like the way that the paths lead your eye away. I have always wondered if it gets cold in Instanbul in winter, looks a bit wintery here.
Tony , weather is close to freezing point. Only a week goes with snow per year. This picture was from September , I guess. Istanbul passes winter warm , no snow storm etc.
Portra is two times more expensive than Kodak 200 , Fuji 100. I think I never used that quality film and something goes strange and compressing effects it a lot. Digital kills the film really and there is no alternative to minilab for me and it scans even for printing. I really miss , analog Kodak labs . And LCD monitor is erasing micro details also.
I like how it looks so colorful, even on a rainy day. I think that is what makes this shot so nice, the dark greens of the grass and stems, and the bright reds and yellows of the flowers.
