Welcome back! A very interesting return too, compositionally.

this is a lovely photograph. Its great that you let the shadows go black. that is something I love to do. Its such a break with the modernist tradition, and can confuse the hell out of people. The viewer sees a guy working with an 8x10, contact printing, and developing in pyro: and assume immediately that you are a modernist. This is a very sly move you are making, and I like it.

Ryan Mcintosh does stuff like that all the time. We were looking at photographs one day and I said something about reprinting a piece in order to get shadow detail, and he said "why would you do that? I burn my shadows down." ryan would very slyly play with the traditions of modernism, employing the aesthetics of post-modernity; as you may know he did it with success.

Try taking it a step further and see what happens. dodge out, or mask, the highlights. the detail isnt necessary. make it graphic and obvious that it is a contact print. if you mess around with the specificity of the 8x10 it might be liberating in an odd way. Just a thought.

Good work!

Chris
