Last spring I loaded an image "Spring is in the air" Neil suggested It should be tried against grey. So here it is. I have to say I've held this image back. My wife was not over joyed by it. So paranoya set in. With all the discussion in the forums lately about appropriate and not appropriate I thought it time to throw it out here. I have to say the image as a drawing looks quite mild. But as a Photograph it feels completely different.
Thomas, this is not one of your better poses in my opinion. The whole scene just lacks the creativity that I see in much of the rest of your work. Usually, when I look at one of your photos of this genere, I get the feeling that the photo is simply the culmination of much creative planning, elaborate set design and careful lighting. This one comes up short for me.
Can't speak about its artistic merits. Such things are very subjective anyway. It's amusingly quirky. I especially like the contrast between the two legs which separates both from the grey background.
LOL....you are going to hate me for this, since I seem to be 2 for 2, but there is something wrong with the hands. One seems to be a male hand and the other a female hand. The male hand looks out of place and way too big in relation to the rest of the body parts.
I see your intention with the legs, but IMO a simple shot with the legs straight up and just one hand covering the genitalia would have been better......
Oh...oops...not the critique forum.....well....bite me!
Well Jorge that is 2 Chritmas card years your deleted from "Oh" and another thing only if your a big juicey steak!
Brad, I kind of agree. But the humor for me is still there. If the componeants where moved a bit the relationships may make more sense.
Thanks for all the comments!!!
For me it does not come short at all. I find it to be a well thought and perfectly executed
work. For the hands tho I'd try to find another solution, one that that covers less intentively , more coincidentally ?.
