Thanks guys, yes no tripod. In fact I had to ask permission as its in a school playground no photography allowed normally. I may go back and do it justice as I just snapped it while picking my daughter up from school...
Thanks I'm going to go back and shoot with a tripod and slower film.
It is a fascinating tree on the north side there is a root that on one side has a lump of iron the other stone (flint) that the roots are growing over.

Truly an amazing tree, and one 5 mins walk from my home, I'm getting to know the school caretaker, possibly he'll let me shoot it at a week-end, sans children!
