I couldn't resist taking pictures of the peacocks there... your shot here is much more creative an angle than I took. I like the way the bird contrasts with the tree just enough to see.
I have not been to this location in years now. These are amazing and colorful birds. This photo brought to mind an outing where a peacock scared me to death. It was predawn along a road at the base of the eastern sierras where I'd setup to take some photos by some farm land. When all of a sudden one of these within just feet of where I was let out one of their crows-squeaks-squeals or whatever you call it in the predawn light, liked to stopped my heart at 0500 in the morning. They can be extremely territorial guards and I must have been in it's "zone" of coverage.
This was my first trip back there in about 30 years...Fantasy Island was still being filmed there at that time. I did manage to get a nice pic of a peacock with my iPhone (sigh) but the color film shots I took all look terrible. The color is off...some of them terribly off. The camouflage effect of this bird in the tree is VERY pronounced in the picture...it wasn't so much when I was crouched next to the cock on this low branch. Also, the picture is full of artifacts that hopefully are surface related and not on the negative although I think this is the best it can be. It was a wonderful day anyway and I hope to have learned something for when I return.
