This has a lovely quite appeal to it. Its fine as it is but I wonder did you consider flipping the photo so as the tree would be on the right hand side?

cheers

When I shot this we had gale force winds whipping across the plains - I must have hit the shutter on the only lull that whole day.

Interesting - it might "read" better flipped to the right?

Interesting idea, Tex. It does work differently reversed (using a mirror to reflect the screen image). I find the way presented to have more energy than when reversed (reversed it is more calm). To me as a left-to-right reader, my eye starts at the tree and explores the vastness of the open sky. Reversed, my eye comes to rest on the tree. (I wonder if a native right-to-left reader would feel the opposite?

But either way, a beautiful image! Simple and moving!

Downhill is definitely a right to left motion... :D Just kidding. Beautiful, Jeff! Love the stark simplicity.
