I did this shot over a year ago. For some reason I was not satisfied with it and left the print in a book. Some days ago I found the print where it had been left and thought: "hey, this is not so bad!". Now I seem to like it.
You're right, it's "not so bad"! Burning in the top a bit, and perhaps cropping the top of it to eliminate the unfinished branches would be what I'd do with it were it mine. But...a good rediscovery nonetheless!
Thank you for this suggestion! Now that you've mentioned this possibility, it's become clear to me the image will be improved if I can do it right. I'll certainly try that since I've just begun to learn how to dodge and burn.
It can sometimes be better to leave prints aside for a while, so that when you approach them again it can be with a fresh pair of eyes. I know this has happened to me several times and I wondered how I missed the new interpretation the first time.
