The sharpness of the railing to the softness of the ocean is interesting. Was the tripod glued to the deck and a slow shutter speed used?

Mike c: The weather on this particular day was not too rough, I was down the back of the ship where the wash from the hull is quite dramatic at full speed. I have done these long exposures before (in digital) in incredibly rough weather and had great results. I just hold the tripod very firmly with my hand during the exposure. I've found that 1/2 second or there abouts is sufficient for a really nice image. Captures the drama of the water movement without making it too transparent. Those are really nice Alex, with the water washing across the deck it looks kind of haunted.
