Same one as the first one, but a slightly different crop, this one is essentially the whole negative, and printed slightly brighter. Honestly not sure which is better.
Any and all comments are greatly appreciated and welcome.
Gary,
I think this is much stronger. The rushing water over the small rocks in middle left edge and bottom right edge are strong anchor points. The other image seems "strangled" in comparison. I feel the top of the main rock on the left gets lost a bit in the background rocks as they are on the same tangent with matching patterns. Either a higher or lower viewpoint may have helped to separate those elements a little.
It's hard to judge with a scan but I would burn in the highlights in the top half but let the bright leaves on the tree branch remain a stong feature.
Tony
Hi Gary, Agree with Tony on this one, the tonal scale works well and the rock in the lower right hand corner is large enough in this one to add to the overall. In the other version it is more distracting. Very nice print.
Good to see you post again.
Thanks for the help. The more I look at the print, the more I agree with everything you both say. This rock is a 15 minute drive from here, and next chance I get I may go back try again. Also, I will play with it some more in the darkroom.
