Great shot, I love trains. Loks to me as though it's a steam train but I'm no expert.

The photo is very interesting and well done, however in my humble opinion, it is a steam control panel for an oil fired engine, rather than a Diesel. Regardless it is interesting and grabs ones attention.

Thanks for the comments, I took this photo a while ago, and I don't know much about trains!
