Ti 30, Sak 23, Jiab 25 Male Gogo Sex Workers, Thailand 2009

Are these shot in a studio? I think taking the environment away has weakened them somewhat compared to the earlier series. Very well shot and lit, but I am not sure if the purpose is portraits or something more documentary. I admire your commitment to this project. Rgds, Kal

Thanks Kal, yes shot in my apartment studio when I was in Thailand. White background 4 speedotron flash units, 2 large softboxes on subject. I think I might agree with you, I believe after this years shoot I am a bit burnt out with the whole sex worker portrait stuff. I plan on going more enviromental portraiture next year and am planning a project called KHON THAI (The Thai people). The photographs will be enviromental portraits of people from throughout Thai society shot with a 4x5 rangefinder camera (at least thats the thinking now, might change my mind tomorrow!) If things work out might spend years on this project shooting a variety of subjects within Thailand.
