With descending sun I shot these tree views of a bridge with first 90mm, then 180mm and finally 47mm focal length on 6x7mm slide film. Front-drop was applied for 90mm and 180mm.
See what you're getting at, I think this one works best. Indeed, it is difficult to get a clean and unfettered scene without extreme patience/diligence or special access. With some crop these three would look nice on anybody's wall, right in sequence.
Thanks Rich! In fact, I chose carefully this viewpoint for the 180mm focal length. I plan to do this "exploration" of a building etc. more intensively in future - but since the time window is limited for my favorate sunset light, this will sometimes mean to return a second time.
Thank you for the comments grahamp! In fact the camera placement was identical for 47mm and 180mm focal length, so that in principle one could get this image here by cropping the 47mm version. But I completely agree that this changes the reception dramatically - as you state it in your comments very correctly. In addition the sunset proceeded while changing to the 47mm lens, which put the pillars of the bridge more into the shadows.
